Understanding the Impact of Strangulation

Advanced DV 6 CE Units

Strangulation has been identified as one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence and sexual assault.  The presence of strangulation in a relationship is a dramatic sign of danger that is often ignored or overlooked by both the perpetrator and the victim.  STRANGULATION IS NOT CHOKING!!! and it is often dismissed as "just choking."  In this class, participants will learn the long-term impact of strangulation, how to assess for the presence of strangulation in a relationship, and strategies for treatment.

Vision Boards in Therapeutic Settings

Advanced DV 6 CE Units

Vision Boards can be incredible tools in the therapeutic practice. Creating visuals of where one is, where one wants to go, be, or do are powerful insights into the inner world of our clients. In addition, we get insight into how to help our clients on their journeys. Having a visual of what is going on with someone is often the first step towards helping them make the changes they want to make.

Upon completion of the Vision Board class, you get a set of pre-done images and words that can be re-printed and used over and over.

Parental Alienation and Domestic Violence

Advanced DV 6 CE Units

What exactly is parental alienation??? How does it affect the children???  What are the behaviors in an alienating parent, and what are the reasons that it happens? How can the alienated relationship be fixed-or can it? What is the connection between parental alienation and domestic violence/abuse? These are among the many interesting things you will learn in this class.
